Upcycled Plastic Sculptures
“While we as a society know abstractly the changes we are causing the environment with our lifestyles, we have become accustomed to it and accepted it as a part of our way of living. My desire in creating plastic sculptures is to remind my audience that while we are damaging our planet we are also wasting material that can be used in new ways to add beauty to our world. With every bottle I wash, cut, heat, and arrange into my installations I hope to do my own part in buying time for our planet. While one person’s actions may be an insignificant amount in the grand scheme of things, I hope through the usage of found, recycled, and upcycled materials we as a society can learn to rethink and reexamine the possibilities of using discarded materials in new ways before ultimately ending up in our landfills.”
